Description
The Turkey Flat Vineyard boasts some of the oldest Shiraz vines in the world. Planted in 1847, these hard-working gnarled old vines are still producing fantastic grapes. They are dry grown with their roots extending metres into the soil in search of moisture. This shiraz is a result of a very intricate blending process. After each parcel of fruit is individually vilified & aged for 20 months in specially selected French oak barrels, 33% of which are new, the final blend is created with careful consideration to allow the wine to cellar gracefully, retaining its freshness and balance for many years.
‘A dry winter in 2013 reduced yields and led to an early bud burst. Strong February rains relieved a hot and dry summer leading to a slow and even ripening period giving each parcel of fruit priority of attention. With fresh raspberry, dark savoury olive character and lively cassis, the 2014 Shiraz has supple elegance and a complex palate fit for many years to come. Our oak integration is modest and performs a complimentary role in expressing and defining Shiraz as we see it; a wine of prettiness and purity.’
